The Twiggs County seat, surrounded by some of the most heavily timbered ground in Middle Georgia.
Jeffersonville is the Twiggs County seat, a small town on Highway 80 east of Macon with a courthouse, a few blocks of businesses, and a great deal of pine timber in every direction. Twiggs is one of the least densely populated counties in Middle Georgia and one of the most heavily forested, and that balance shows up in the work.
Timber country produces a specific kind of tree problem. Managed pine stands are grown close and thinned periodically, and the trees left behind after a thinning are the ones most likely to fail — tall and slender, with no wind-firmness of their own because they spent decades sheltered. On a house lot carved out of that same ground, the same thing applies to whatever pines were left standing when the pad was cleared.

"JC and his crew did a great job getting the massive tree that fell during the storm. They were very helpful and worked hard to make sure myself and my neighbor were happy with the end results, and all of my property — trailers and fence — that were buried by the tree were protected while they worked. Will use JC's Tree Service again!"

What Jeffersonville and Twiggs County property owners ask us most.
Worth a look, particularly if the lot was cleared out of a stand. Pines that grew up crowded never developed the trunk taper or root spread an open-grown tree has, so once the stand around them is gone they're carrying wind they didn't grow to handle. The first few seasons after clearing are the risky ones.
